I recently posted this on Instagram:
“Why Are Interest Rates Dropping on FGN Bonds & MMMFs?”
And I want to break it down for you here because what’s happening in the financial markets requires your attention.
Interest rates are falling.
Why?
The Central Bank is trying to boost the economy by making borrowing cheaper.
Inflation is cooling off slightly.
There is more money (liquidity) in the system.
As a result, safe investments like Money Market Funds and FGN Bonds are now yielding lower returns.
But does this mean investing is no longer worth it? No.
It simply means: You need to diversify and you need to do it with intention.
Let’s talk about diversification — your wealth protector.
Diversification is a deliberate strategy for building wealth safely.
It means spreading your money across different types of assets so that when one area slows down, others still help you grow.
Here is how smart investors are thinking in this season:
✅ Keeping some money in Money Market Funds (for liquidity).
✅ Exploring stocks (for long-term growth).
✅ Looking into real estate (for stability and rental income).
✅ Adding mutual funds or ETFs (for built-in diversity).
✅ Considering dollar-denominated investments (for currency protection).
It’s not about moving in fear, it’s about moving with strategy.
No matter your current income, diversification helps you weather storms and still move forward.
If this feels overwhelming, you’re not alone.
You’re not meant to figure this out alone either.
That’s why I’m hosting Money Date with TEA, happening live in Lagos on July 26th.
It’s more than an event. It’s a safe, intentional space to learn how to:
